Who is Joon?
Joon was born in 1995 in Northern Vietnam, and we first saw her beautiful smile at a maternity hospital in Haiphong when she was one month old, when she joined our family and became part of our lives. Joon grew up around the world with her traveling family; first in Laos, then in Bangkok, New York, Vienna, and most recently back in France. She is bi-lingual in French and English, and finished her secondary studies last year at the French ‘high school’ in Ferney-Voltaire near the Swiss border, where she earned her French Science baccalaureate with honors. She started her university studies in sciences and physics last September in Geneva.
Joon is full of enthusiasm for life: she is fascinated by science and quantum physics and looks forward to working as a research scientist, expresses her creativity through drawing and projects, plays the piano, and has made many memorable meals for friends and family. Even her meals are small works of art. Joon is always working on a project: planting a garden, knitting, plastering and painting to remodel her bedroom, and even now is making beautiful origami creations for the nurses at the hospital.
Joon is a generous and loving friend to the many people she knows around the world. She is always available to help out or just listen, and of course ready to enjoy a good time together. She loves movies, an art exhibit, a concert, traveling….. watching a sunset…. and simply sharing a good meal together. Her laugh is contagious and her smile is uplifting and calming. She is often thinking about ten things at the same time; and we are all familiar with her wonderful and passionate descriptions that mix languages and even include invented words, to better share her thoughts and ideas. Joon brings tenderness, grace, and joy wherever she goes!

Qui est Joon ?
Joon embrasse la vie, est curieuse et enthousiaste de tout et de tous. Elle a décidé de voir le bon côté de chaque chose. Elle se jette dans ce qu’elle entreprend, se passionne pour les sciences comme pour les choses humaines, est impatiente d’étudier la physique quantique et en même temps aime faire et bien faire de ses mains.
A dix sept ans, tous ceux pour qui elle a cuisiné s’en souviennent. Elle jardine, les graines et les bulbes s’entassent dans le garage. Elle tricote pour nous, dessine, écrit, joue du piano. Elle bricole aussi et a restauré sa chambre dans notre vieille maison : Plâtre, enduit, peinture.
Tout lui fait envie, aller au cinéma, au concert , voyager, voir des expositions, regarder un coucher de soleil, contempler les étoiles, observer l’éclosion de la glycine, la lumière passer sur un mur, la courbe d’’un nuage !
Elle s’émerveille devant les fleurs et est compatissante. Elle se préoccupe des autres, est généreuse et son rire est contagieux, sans retenu.
Toute injustice la révolte qu’elle exprime par ces mots :
« Mais ca ne se fait pas, ça ! »
Dix choses à la fois fusent dans son esprit et nous sommes tous familiers des télescopages verbaux et créations linguistiques réjouissantes qui s’en suivent.
Sa présence est tendre, joyeuse, elle fait la vie tellement belle !

Việc hiến tặng này dựa trên nguyên tắc giấu tên giữa người hiến và người nhận cho nên các bạn không thể hiến tặng trực tiếp cho Joon. Mục đích của chiến dịch này là để nâng cao nhận thức và tăng số lượng người hiến tặng châu Á tại các trung tâm đăng ký quốc gia. Vì vậy, dù ở đâu, việc hiến tặng của các bạn cũng có thể giúp cứu sống một con người.

En arrivant à Haï Phong à la rencontre de celle qui devait devenir ma nièce, je suis restée devant l’hôpital. Tout d’un coup j’ai eu trop peur, et si on nous retirait ce bébé, et si nous devions attendre encore et encore,…non je préfère ne pas la tenir dans mes bras.
Et puis elle est arrivée, Joon, ma nièce. Tête en l’air, nez au vent, et couettes en l’air,…Et elle a grandi absorbée par l’ordonnancement des pommes sur une tarte puis par la courbe d’une équation.
Quelque part une personne partage son héritage biologique et son histoire vietnamienne. Que cette histoire continue!
